Savory Crock Pot Roast

Pot Roast is always a favorite Sunday dinner at our
house. I have several crock pot roast recipes.
This one is so easy and delicious.
Just 3 ingredients along with the pot roast.
It  makes a well seasoned, tender roast.
It makes lots of flavorful brown gravy.
It makes everybody happy!
Rub the mixes on each side of the meat. Add
water to about halfway around roast.
Cover and cook on low about 8 hours.
That's it!
Now wait for your house to smell wonderful!
We like it with mashed potatoes and a vegetable.
It's a lick your plate clean dinner!
You could also add cut-up potatoes, carrots and
onions to the pot at the beginning of cooking.

Savory Crock Pot Beef Pot Roast
3-5 pounds chuck pot roast
1 pkg. brown gravy mix
1/2 pkg. Italian dressing mix
1/2 pkg. Ranch dressing mix
1/2-1C water
Place the beef in the crock pot and sprinkle with
the gravy mix and about 1/2 of each package
of the Italian and Ranch dressing mixes.
No need to measure. Turn meat and rub
on both sides. Add water around the
meat to submerge it about halfway,
(1/2C - 1C). Cover and cook on
low for 8 hours until fork tender.

Enjoy!

  1. Rita I just put this in the crock pot to have for dinner tonight. It sounds delicious. I'm going to add some carrots and onions in a bit and also make mashed potatoes later. When I went grocery shopping yesterday the butcher was putting out fresh cut chuck roasts...and they were on sale - so I had to try this.
    thanks again!

I know the Mr. would love me if

  5. I made this roast yesterday. SOOO good. I have made a tender roast in the crock pot before, and I've made some with good flavor (but sadly, not as tender). This was perfect! This will be my recipe from now on. Everyone loved it. I seared my roast prior to putting on the spices and putting it in the crock pot. My 3.5# roast was to 195º after 7 hours, but it falls apart with a fork. Yummy!

  7. Packet gravy is usually in the chili packet isle. if you can't find it try just adding two beef bullion cubes.

  9. I found this recipe on pinterest & made it for dinner tonight. I'm sorry, but this recipe was not very good :( the roast was not tender at all & I didn't end up w a "gravy". I followed it exact.. I used a 4 lb boneless chuck pot roast. Is yours bone-in? Could that be the problem? All pulix had was boneless. Maybe 8 hrs is too long or too short? Idk, but it was not a hit :(

  11. The seasoning packets contain MSG or yeast extract is another way of saying MSG. I'll substitute with safer seasonings. Looks delicious.

  19. For those who are cooking challenged, I would add: pat the meat dry, mix all 3 packets together then dry rub them into the roast. I made a really big mess!! I'm sure this recipe will save me, though!! Thanks.

  20. This dish is one of our families favorites! I love that my boys think their mom is one of (if not the) BEST COOK EVER because of how good this was. I guess I forgot to mention that I had seen your recipe and that the crock pot did most of the cooking. ;-) Thank you for sharing. God bless!

  25. Is it possible to do it on a high setting?

  26. I made this and it was great! Very easy. I made a few additions I added sautéed onions and a half packet of Lipton onion soup mix. I also used a tip from an earlier comment and mix all packets together in a bowl and then rubbed it on both sides of the roast. Thank you. I’ll definitely make this recipe again
